Barkindji/Malyangapa multidisciplinary artist and cultural practitioner

David Doyle is a Barkindji/Malyangapa artist whose multidisciplinary practice is grounded in culture, Country, family and the continuation of cultural knowledge.

Working across sculpture, carving, installation, painting, printmaking and a range of natural, found and contemporary materials, David brings cultural knowledge and practice into conversation with contemporary approaches to making.

His work draws strongly from Barkindji and Malyangapa connections to Country, including the waterways, landscapes, plants, animals, stories and cultural practices of Far West NSW. Through his practice, David explores culture as something living — inherited and remembered, but also practised, interpreted and carried forward.

David’s work has developed from regional and community-based practice to national and international exhibitions, commissions, collaborative projects and institutional collections.

At the centre of his practice is a commitment to cultural integrity, storytelling and creating work that connects past, present and future.
